HUSZTI dental care
Shortly after the death of his father from COVID-19, and the temporary shutdown of the practice due to state restrictions, Dr. William Huszti had some time on his hands and some emotions to work out. He did that in the form of moviemaking with his daughters Olivia and Sophia.
“Detroit Landmarks: Inspiration” is a six-minute film highlighting metro-Detroit places of worship that has been gathering prizes at film festivals around the world. The latest was from the Royal Starr Film Festival, which aired the film at the Emagine Theatre in Royal Oak in September.
The festival included a red carpet walk, which Dr. Huszti and his wife, Dr. Chong-Huszti walked with their daughters. Friends, patients and members of the Huszti Family Dental team filled the private showing room. After the showing, and the riotous applause, Dr. Huszti answered questions from the audience.
“It was pretty surreal,” Dr. Huszti said. “I was honored to be included in the festival and it was nice that it was close enough to attend and share it with my family, friends and coworkers.”
This is just one of many honors “Detroit Landmarks: Inspiration” has garnered since he completed it in 2020. His IMDb page counts 18 awards from film festivals from Los Angeles to New York to Berlin and Prague.
The film used a drone to take sweeping images of not just the building but the surrounding areas. Because of the drone, we are able to see the buildings in ways we never could before. That was part of the point.
“I have driven by these places my whole life and it got so I didn’t really see them anymore for the works of art they are,” he said. “I wanted people to really see them.”
He also commissioned original music for the film.
“I’m really proud of this work,” he said. “And people seem to like it, so that’s an added bonus.”
