HUSZTI dental care
There are many causes of gum recession and Ron, who’s 59, thought he’d been addressing them all. His career often placed him in the public eye and he was starting to get a bit self-conscious.
One of the great things about having a practice in the Milford and Highland area is the fact that we are a part of the fabric of the close-knit, rural community.
A great example of that is the partnership Huszti Dental Care has with the local schools. For years, Dr. Huszti and Chong-Huszti have volunteered their time to bring important oral hygiene education to students in the classroom. They discuss the importance of daily brushing, limiting pop and candy and regular visits to the dentist. For many students, it is the first time they have seen dental professionals outside of the office setting, and it helps build relationships.
Recently, Huszti Dental Care flipped that on its head and had a local student spend a day in the office with the team. It was part of a class project for Milford High School student Azelin Sinelli. She chose to spend the day with the Husztis partly because they are the parents of her friend, Sophia Huszti, and partly because she is interested in pursuing a career in dentistry after graduation.
Azelin asked team members questions about everything from why they went into dentistry to what challenges they see ahead. They discussed the best parts of the job (helping patients) the challenges (difficulties of staying on schedule while catching up with with so many wonderful patients ) and what qualities they look for in hiring team members (skilled and personable). They even gave Azelin a little advice for dental school (stay current with your class work and get as much sleep as you can).
The Husztis got as much out of the day as Azelin did.
“Azelin asked so many good questions and we did our best to answer them fully and honestly,” said Dr. Anna Chong-Huszti. “That type of curiosity will be vital in dental school.”
As for Azelin, she told Sophia, “Everyone was soooooo nice.”
“The field needs smart, caring practitioners like Azelin,” Dr. Chong-Huszti said. “I think we gave her a good idea about the ins and outs of a career in the dental field. And if she has any other questions, she knows she can come to us. Bill and I had mentors from the industry when we were in school, it’s nice to be able to give back.”
