HUSZTI dental care
Maggie sat into the dental chair slowly. She was looking outside to the protected wetlands that surround the Huszti Building on Milford Road where Huszti Dental Care has been since 2002. Her eyes were wide.
“Wow,” she said. “This is not the kind of dental office I went to when I was a kid.”
It led our hygienist to ask a very important question: “When was the last time you went to see a dentist?”
Maggie paused to think. “I think about 10 years,” she said. “But I live in Highland, so I drive by this building all the time and it got me thinking maybe it’s time to go back.”
Our hygienist chatted with Maggie while she did her examination and found out that Maggie had just gotten out of the habit of regular dental visits because she had bad associations from her childhood.
But today’s dentistry is very different from even 20 years ago. Technology, staff training, patient care and treatments all work together to make a trip to the dentist much less scary than it used to be.
Which makes it that much more important to maintain regular visits to your dentist. You get more than a thorough cleaning, you get an examination and information on how to nip any potential problems in the bud.
Huszti Dental Care’s hygienists and dentists are trained to look for any signs of dental disease and other issues that can be seen in the mouth, because oral health is often a window into overall health. For example, diabetes may first present symptoms of sores or other oral problems in the mouth. Mouth and throat cancers can also be identified early, which leads to better treatment outcomes. Sometimes discolored teeth can be a symptom of another problem.
While at your visit, our experts look for tooth decay and cavities, loose teeth, gum and tongue health and offer advice on home care. You might also get X-rays, which help find issues too small to be seen. It’s also a good time to talk about anything regarding your oral health you may be concerned about.
And even if we do find an issue, treatments are usually quick and painless, and in many cases can be done that same day.
Maggie’s regular brushing and flossing had paid off, and aside from a couple spots that may one day be cavities, she left with a clean bill of health and an appointment for her next cleaning six months later.
“If I knew this is what I’d expect,” Maggie said, “I’d have been back sooner.” So remember, it’s never too late to get into the habit of regular checkups.
