HUSZTI dental care
While at the Milford Cinemas, 82-year-old Ernie A. cracked a tooth eating popcorn and realized it was time to find a new dentist. The dentist he had gone to for 30 years retired several years back, and Ernie had put off finding a new one. That’s how he ended up at Huszti Dental Care; it was in Milford, right near his Highland home, and came highly recommended by his neighbor. During his initial exam, our hygienist noticed his partial denture was loose and asked him about it. He admitted it hadn’t fit properly for years but, at his age, didn’t think there was much point in looking into it.
The hygienist brought this to the attention of Dr. Anna Chong-Huszti who encouraged Ernie to talk about his concerns. He said he was still diligent about brushing, but he didn’t always wear his denture because he had lost some weight and it was uncomfortable. Dr. Anna knew Ernie deserved better. She brought Dr. Mark Isler over to meet Ernie and discuss his options.
To begin with, the doctors realized the cracked tooth couldn’t be saved and there would soon be problems with some of Ernie’s other teeth and they would have to come out as well. But his diligent dental care over the years meant his gum tissue and bones were good. They suggested he consider a full fixed arch. These devices are permanently anchored implants. They don’t come out at night and they look and feel like your own teeth. Ernie liked that idea, especially because it meant he wouldn’t have to worry about the embarrassing slippage of his denture.
It would take two appointments, but Ernie could have the work done painlessly in the Milford office just on the border of Highland. Anesthesia was administered by computer and Ernie was thrilled with the Beats by Dre headphones he used to listen. Today, Ernie has his smile back. He’s also put back on a little of the weight he lost because it’s easier, and therefore more enjoyable, to eat what he loves. Including popcorn.
