HUSZTI dental care
Want your mouth to be healthy? That’s what we want for you, too. With all the products at the drug store that claim they’ll remove tartar, whiten your teeth and kill germs, it can be confusing, even daunting.
But you don’t have to be confused. Here are the four top tips that can become part of your routine to ensure your mouth is healthy and happy.
1: Fluoride. It’s a mineral found in most water systems across the country. But because most of us in the Milford area drink from a well or bottled water, we may not be getting the amount of fluoride we need to fight cavities. If a cavity is caught in its early stages, fluoride treatment can possibly reverse the damage. Ask us if this is right for you.
2: Soda. We all know candy can cause cavities, but many people don’t know about the damage that can be done with a can of pop. In many ways, it can be considered liquid candy as it’s common to find 10 teaspoons of sugar in a single can. In addition, carbonic acid, used to make pop fizz, damages teeth. And don’t fool yourself: diet pop is not much better. Nursing a pop all day keeps the sugar and carbonic acid in contact with your teeth longer, making the damage even worse.
3: Dental sealants. One of the most common areas where decay is found is on the biting surfaces of back teeth. Often, there are deep grooves where food and bacteria collect, leading to decay. Dental sealants will cover those problematic grooves by flowing a special plastic resin into them. And the best part? Sealants are administered without a drill or a shot and takes only minutes.
4: Dental examinations. Usually by the time a dentist can see a cavity, it’s worse off than you think. New breakthroughs in cavity detection can identify issues long before they become problems, making treatments more successful and less invasive.
